Pumpkin Water Color Mixed Media Collage
Kindergarten has been studying pumpkins the past couple weeks. We have learned they are from the Squash family and they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. We are in the early stages of our STARLIGHT PUMPKIN COLLAGE. Notice how they do not have orange or brown on their pallets! They were wild about mixing and making their own pumpkins.
Fall Leaf Mixed Media
Kindergarten has spent the past two weeks working on a Warm Colors Mixed Media Art piece using Fall Leaves. First they used Sassafras leaves to make leaf rubbings with warm colors on manilla paper. Second they applied Warm color Watercolors and watched as the crayons made a resist on the paper. Finally the students printed Maple leaves using white paint.
Primary Color MonoPrints
Kindergarten made Monoprints using the Primary colors. As the colors printed, they mixed to make the secondary colors. Next week we will collage with our Monoprints.
Joan Miro inspired line and color drawings
Students got a healthy dose of art this week as they learned about three art elements: LINE, SHAPE, AND COLOR. First students learned the definition of line (A DOT THAT TAKES WALK) and its expressive quality as they drew lines to the tempo of music. Currently they are filling all shapes (AN AREA CONTAINED BY LINE) with THE PRIMARY COLORS.
Kandinsky Collage
Students studied Russian Painter, Wassily Kandinsky to inspire their collages.
Pre-instructional workbooks
Students are completing pre-instructional skills booklets to determine their incoming skill level.
