- Corrugated Cardboard
- Yarn
- Newspaper
A value that I want to instill in my students is the idea that Art doesn't have to be made out of new or expensive materials. Art is made in the heart and mind. The very first book I read to Kindergarten and the book they keep asking for is Joseph had a Little Overcoat. Joseph keeps repurposing his overcoat until he has nothing left, and then he writes a story about the overcoat. The moral of the story is you can always make something out of nothing. This is how I want all my students to view art. To do this, we will be needing recyclables to use to solve new art problems. 3rd grade will be making shields and will be needing corrugated cardboard. 4th Grade will be studying Navajo weaving and will need any yarn you may have laying about the house or would like to donate. Sixth grade will be working with soft sculpture and will be needing newspaper.
Thank you!
